Re-thinking public health: Towards a new scientific logic of routine animal health care in European industrial farming

Abstract This study makes the case for a new scientific logic of routine animal health care in industrial farming Europe. We argue that social regime underpinning research and development on chronic disease management (CADM) Europe stifles innovation sustains productivist model husbandry facilitates maintains diseases rather than eliminating them. Drawing documentary analysis qualitative interviews, explores science CADM broiler, cattle pig sectors European food industry. Our findings show these major sectors, is largely orientated towards growth, profitability control recognition interconnection between diseases, industry, people (especially consumers) as advocated by One Health approach. The contributes to literature medical humanities technology studies within public two ways: First, we draw focus are non-transmissible humans while not zoonoses, they equally worthy attention managing emergence pathogens diseases.
